Each year, near the end of August, Wedgeport holds its annual Tuna Tournament & Festival. Anglers from Canada, the United States and from across the world participate in this historic tournament which brings back memories of the International Tuna Cup matches which were held between 1936 to 1976.

Every year we have between 10 to 15 boats that participate in the Wedgeport Tuna Tournament hoping to catch the elusive & legendary Giant Bluefin Tuna.

This tournament has been a huge success since its revival in 2004, attracting large crowds at the weigh-in on Friday & Saturday. There are activities held each day during the tournament. Examples are: 5 & 10 k Tuna Runs, Wine & Cheese opening ceremonies, captain's sendoff, scavanger hunt, Tuna pageant, along with music & entertainment on Friday & Saturday. A seafood extravaganza is held on Friday & Saturday with many types of seafood on the menu for both the public and the fishermen.

This year we will be holding the 11th annual Wedgeport tuna Tournament & Feastiva between the dates of Aug. 17th, 2014 & Aug. 23rd, 2014. Everybody is invited to participate in the weeklong activities.
